So, with some cold weather last weekend, we picked almost all of the tomatoes, potatoes, apples, and peas and brought them in the house. So, we now have a big bowl of small apples, two large bowls of potatoes, 6 of tomatoes, 1 of onions and the peas are gone :) We also have our two huge potted green zebra tomato plants inside too which are almost done bearing fruit. We still have quite a few carrots and beets in the ground, so we'll pull them in a week or two. Now, what to make with all that.... |

Haley came over for her second sleepover last weekend which went really well. We roasted a chicken on the BBQ with some roasted veggies as well as some raw ones for the kids. After dinner, we watched a movie with the girls who set up camp in our bonus room. Haley had come very well prepared, including a sleeping bag, so I set up our camping mattresses on the floor and the girls crawled in to watch the movie. After the movie, we put them in Victoria's bed and I read them a few stories before they finally fell asleep. And for the second time, Victoria woke up in the middle of the night and shifted to our bed, leaving poor Haley sleeping in Victoria's bed. We had some quick pancakes in the morning, then played a bit of Wii rescuing ducklings before her mom came and picked her up. |

We met Victoria's teacher last week for our first interview, and so far so good. Victoria's a model student so far, is ahead in reading and math already, and has apparently taken a new girl under her wing. We've also gotten an idea of the curriculum this year and we're expecting Victoria to have no issues at all. Overall, it was a pretty short interview, but we both liked the new teacher. |

Colin and Rachel were just married last weekend, and I had the pleasure of being one of the groomsman. The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch (or noticable one anyway) and we were always ahead of time all through the day. We even had so much time after photos, so we just drove around in the limo and took in some views. They've been together for a while, so it's nice to see them officially together. Best wishes to them both. My parents also came down for the weekend for it, so it was good to see them again, plus all of the other family that we only see once or so a year. We seem to get so caught up with work and Victoria, we rarely see our family, even when we live in the same city. |

Victoria's just had her 6th birthday party, and had limited her to 7 friends which was really hard for her. We had it at our house, and brought in a face painter - The Tattooed Lady aka Lea Selley. The kids loved it, and she was great with the kids. I'll post up the pics very shortly. They ran around for the most part, made some jewelry, played a bit of Twister, played on the swings and playset, and whatever else they could find. We brought in a Barbie cake from Sobey's, threw on colored flame candles and a big number 6 sparkler. Victoria had fun trying to blow it out, and about 2/3 of the way through it, she asked her friends to help so we had 8 girls trying to blow out the sparkler. Thanks to all her friends for the birthday gifts. Victoria tore through them so fast we didn't catch all the names, but in the time since her party, she's played with everything at least a few times! We're trying to sort it out based on photos, so we'll see. It seems all of the girls had fun, so I'd say it was a hit. And just so we remember in the future, we had Haley of course with her sister Anna, Kayla D, Kayleigh, Hannah, Courtney, Laney, and Natalie. |
